ErP 2026

Get ready for upcoming changes with AFL MOTORS EUROPE and ensure your production stays safe and continuous. New regulations for fans require not only adapting products to higher efficiency standards but also providing proper documentation and product labeling.

What is ErP 2026 and who does it apply to?

Regulation (EU) 2024/1834 establishes new ecodesign standards for fans with power outputs ranging from 125 W to 500 kW. This regulation marks the next phase in strengthening energy efficiency rules in the European Union, aiming to lower energy use, cut CO₂ emissions, and enhance resource efficiency.

The new regulations include:

  • complete fans (motor, impeller, structural components)
  • integrated fans (e.g., in air handling units, heaters, rooftops)
  • replacement fans

The regulation applies to:

  • fan manufacturers
  • HVAC equipment manufacturers
  • entities assembling devices and putting them on the market

Why is ErP 2026 significant for your company?

Legal obligation

Non-compliance with the requirements prevents the product from being sold in the EU market.

Manufacturer’s responsibility

The company that markets the product, including the device manufacturer, is fully responsible for ensuring the fan’s compliance with regulatory requirements.

Impact on product design

Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/1834 on fans implements Directive 2009/125/EC (Ecodesign/ErP). Also applicable is Commission Regulation (EU) No. 1253/2014 for ventilation and heat recovery units.
